Haiku 4 U

Here are random thoughts waving through my brain then structured carefully. For those unfamiliar with the Japanese style poetry that is Haiku, I'll give you two examples that best explain what Hiaku is. The first explains the syllabic (is that a word?) structure, the second is simply a style option that I use most often.

How To Haiku
the first line has five
the second carries seven
five again ends it

truncated poem
with a transitional line
a clever ditty

I think this sums up Haiku fairly well. There are volumes written over the various formats and styles. Mine is clearly nothing deeply philosophical or profound, but here it is all the same. (If it isn't obvious, each is only 3 lines long)

humorous blogging
ROTFLOL
don't remember why

then I saw her face
piercing eyes carved to a scowl
I'm a believer

chameleon faith
changing colors to blend in
is it hot in here?

made in God's image
today they try so hard to
shape Him into ours

And since the season is upon us, candy already filling the store shelves ...

glowing in the dark
the spooky jack-o-lantern
smiles a toothy grin

Daydream

I taste you on my lips
and smell you on my skin
Patiently I am waiting
   til we can meet again.

Best Wishes

When I look in her eyes, all that I see

Are parts of a life that will never be.

A cramped little home, teeming with love

where having each other is having enough.

When I see her face, all that I feel

Is emptiness knowing it will never be real.

Her expression is sign of internal war waged

Stay where she’s at, or turn the page

When I feel her touch, it’s a kiss goodbye

and endless tears that will not subside.

Wishing Well

i threw a coin into a well, a symbol of my heart's desire,
the ripple of the water the only result.
here i stand, all alone, only now a penny poorer.

Answers

He knows not where to go
he knows where he has been
sick of the advice everyone lends.
He holds on in fear, playing with fire
all will be well if he can squeeze a little tighter.
He grits his teeth firm, heart beats in chest.
is he different, or just like the rest.
He tenses in fury, tears slowly roil.
unclenches his teeth as blood starts to boil.
He remembers well standing to fight
for what he believed and thought was right.
Regardless he hides sheets over head
wishing he'd run, wishing he'd fled.
He found his answers on the tip of his tongue
breaking the silence, an explosive shot rung.
He longed to get away, but was burned in the run.
smoke slowly rises from the barrel of the gun.

untitled 1

I am not myself, nor any other hence
whispers.  screaming passions.
my ears deafened by silence.

In solitary, I am hidden;
patiently exposed to all.

Hear my cries; I say nothing.
Rescue the already lost.

In agony, tormented - my laughter,
thoughts escape my lips.

lunacy

contemplate my insignificance.

Writer's Block

Extirpated inspiration
the ink well has run dry
Emancipated exasperation
I drop my pen and I sigh
